Do you remember your favorite children's books?
I DO!
My favorite children's books of all time are The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Goodnight Moon. In fact, the earliest memories I have of books is poking my fingers through those little holes in the different fruits, and saying "Goodnight!" to the Great Green Room, and the telephone and the red balloon.
I also remember the wacky world of Dr. Seuss and how it all made perfect sense to me. I loved the Little Golden Books and wanted to have them all! My favorite was The Pokey Little Puppy; I think I read it a thousand times.
As I grew, I can't say that I actually remember beginning to read, but I do remember very well people reading to me. My 2nd grade teacher was my favorite person on earth when every afternoon she read from James and the Giant Peach or Charlotte's Web. I remember being introduced to Ralph S. Mouse and Ramona Quimby, Age 8. I read those Beverly Cleary books over and over. Even in high school, when it was difficult to drag me away from my friends, I often found myself retreating to the peacefulness of sitting alone with a good book.
I am now the very proud mother of a beautiful 2-year-old who is just beginning to appreciate the wonderful world of books. Since I also love them we indulge in quite a few for our collection, visit the library frequently, and borrow from friends (thanks friends!).
There are hundreds of thousands of children's books out there. Some are good and some not so good. Going into a book store I always feel like I am walking in blind. The choices are overwhelming and if I haven’t heard of it before, it’s hard to decide (especially with a toddler in tow). Similarly on bookstore websites there are just too many children's books to browse and I usually find the navigation difficult.
So I've created this website all about the children's books that we love. I hope that it is a manageable, easy to navigate site that will help you fill your child's world with excitement, wonder and beauty.
Happy reading!
